Sports Premium

How will we use the Sport Premium Grant at Southmere Primary Academy?

We will use the funding in the following areas:

  • Training staff
  • After school clubs
  • Providing opportunities for chidlren to enter inter schools competitions
  • PE and Playground Equipment
  • Providing sporting experience through specialist workshops, such as dance, rugby and cricket
  • The use of a specialist PE coach to develop a high quality curriculum and provide CPD for staff

PE Kit

Our academy PE kit consists of:

  • a plain white t-shirt
  • a pair of black shorts
  • a pair of black pumps
  • a named water bottle

We would recommend that all children bring their PE kit in a suitable bag (a simple drawstring bag would be ideal) every Monday ready for the forthcoming week and leave it on their peg until the end of the week.We also recommend that during colder months, children bring some outdoor kit consisting of trainers and a tracksuit.

PE Days

Every class at Southmere has 2 x 45 minute blocks of timetabled PE time per week.

The jewellery policy at Southmere states that a watch and stud earrings are suitable for school. However we would recommend that children do not wear jewellery such as earrings during PE due to health and safety regulations.

What’s happening?

Southmere has a rich history of success in inter-school sport at local, city and county level. This year, our children will be supported in attempting to repeat some of their previous successes. Provision will include, among other activities: football, athletics, cross country and skipping.

More information about how we utilise the PE and Sports Premium for primary schools can be read on our Statutory Information page here.
